For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2014, members of SNMA-MAPS made a trek to Rush Medical School campus to join the medical students for their annual MLK Day of Service festivities. We had a great time spending time with the medical students and dozens of high school students that were there.
We had the opportunity to ask current Rush medical students questions about the school and their experience there and received a presentation from two members of the admissions committee about the admissions process and tips for applying.
Dr. David Ansell, author of the book County, was able to steal a moment to speak to us about what drove him to his profession, and we even received free copies of his book.
We were able to take a quick peek at both Rush’s new hospital and Cook County Hospital. A few of the medical students were kind enough to swing us through the emergency rooms of the two facilities so that we were able to make a comparison between the setup, capacity, and demands of the two facilities.
